God has gifted each of us with unique talents and skills that are unlike anyone else. As the body of Christ, we are called to serve using those unique talents in ways that will give honor to and glorify God. At First Presbyterian Church of Edmond, our deep love for the Lord compels us to obey God’s call to go and serve the community just as Jesus practiced in his own earthly ministry. As we obey God’s call, we bless others and experience joy as we witness God’s presence in new ways. This is how Project 10:45 came to be.
The Project 10:45 name is inspired by Mark 10:45 that states ‘For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many’. Joining our hands, feet and heart with Christ in service to others allows us to more fully utilize the gifts He has blessed us with.
Within this booklet you’ll find a wide range of opportunities to serve the community and glorify God with your time and talents. Each opportunity is outlined in a format that briefly explains the individual mission goals, service opportunity overview and specific volunteer requirements.
Once you locate the mission and opportunity that speak to you, contact Sharon Boecking, the FPCE Volunteer Coordinator, and she will gladly come alongside you or your group to guide you through the volunteer process with your chosen mission(s).
As a congregation one of our 7 Core Practices is to serve community. At the end of this booklet we’ve included some questions to reflect on and discuss with the people who served alongside you from FPCE. Our hope is that this time serving will be an opportunity to see growth in your relationship with God and with those around you. If you feel compelled to share, we’d love to hear what God is revealing to you through serving community. Feel free to share your stories and pictures with Sharon via her contact information below. We want to learn from you and celebrate what God is doing.
