The purpose of The Library at First Pres is to provide print and non-print resources that will support the ministries of the church, foster discipleship, offer Christian perspectives on life issues (marriage, parenting, divorce, loss, suffering, etc.), nurture our children and support research. Christian fiction and biographies are also offered for inspiration and reading enjoyment.
Books: Commentaries, theology, spiritual disciplines, Christian living, devotionals, biographies,
family & parenting, and Christian fiction
Other print resources: Magazines and Presbyterian publications
Non-print resources: Audio books, videos, teacher and leaders’ materials to encourage our journeys with Christ (DVD’s, Kits, videos) and great courses!
Children’s Section: Bible stories, holiday books, DVD’s, videos and Parent’s Shelf
Checkout Procedures & FAQ
All books are self-checkout; assistance is needed for non-print items.
Who may check out?
All members and regular guests may check out library materials.
How many items may be checked out at one time?
Maximum of 3 items
Books may be checked out for 2 weeks
Note: Nonprint items may be checked out for 1 week.
(Exceptions to these policies will be made for teachers and leaders)
Sundays from 8:15am-12:15pm
Wednesdays from 10:30am-1:00pm
& 5:15pm-7:15pm when The Gathering is active Fall-Spring. Please call us as at 341-3602 prior to visiting. Availability of volunteers determines if the library is staffed at these times.
Weekday Library Access
(Members Only) from 8am-5pm
Please check in at the main office for the key. Please lock the door when leaving and return the key to the main office. If other library access is needed, you may contact the church office to request an appointment with the library staff.
How to Find what you are looking for
• Ask for assistance from the library staff or browse on your own.
• The on-line library catalog is available for adult resources (above).
• A binder is located at the library search station to assist you in using the catalog.
• Nonfiction is arranged by the Dewey Decimal System.
• Fiction is arranged alphabetically by author.
• Signs will help you locate the various sections.
Ways To Contribute
Give a memorial gift to the library to honor a loved one
Volunteer your time in the library
Honor a birthday, anniversary, or a special person by purchasing an Item for the library. (A book plate can be placed in the front of the book, acknowledging your gift and the individual being honored.)
